I want to start learning about computer programming, people told me that I should start with C/CC+++, others?

told me to start with VB and others told me to start with algorithm. I am confused. Can you please advise me? Thanks

I want to start learning about computer programming, people told me that I should start with C/CC+++, others?
C/C++ is the way to start. There are many programming languages, but this gives you all the basic concepts and a very powerful programming language. You'll be able to extend your knowledge to other programming languages after getting to know C/C++.

Here is a good place to start:

Reply:Buck is right but VB is easier to understand then C++. Pick which one. Go to the book store and look through both and decide which one you like better and which one would be easier to understand in your eyes! :-)
Reply:if you to study a programming in computer then start with C++ %26amp; C

if you want to study programming for websites

then start with Html, PHP...etc %26amp; then you'll find yourself good at CSS %26amp; Java

Good luck ;)
Reply:Do you want to learn a language or do you want to learn programming?

Look at is with things you know. Do you want to learn engineering in French or do you want to learn French? The two are totally different things.

If you learn computer languages, without learning programming first, you're never sure why you're doing what you're doing. How do you make a list of things, like an address book? If you know programming, you think "doubly-linked list". If you know C++, you think about an address book, you start writing code ... but what are you writing? C++, not an address book.

Learn what you're doing first, then learn a few languages in which to do it. You can program in English (one of the largest programming projects I've been involved with was written in English first) and translate it to a computer language later. You can't program if you don't know how to program.
Reply:C/C++ ll give u a basic idea of programming. so first learn it. then u ll understand about wat is algorithm, how to write it and the other languages can be learnt with confidence, wen u r strong in C/C++.... so i prefer u to learn them first
Reply:For my Idea, I think VB is a very useful programming language I think it's better for you to start from then you can continue to C++ or C. VB is easy to understand, fun, pretty powerful, and easy to find resources, tutorials, and books.
Reply:visual basic is a good program to start with then you can go to c /c++
Reply:Please just trust me...C or C++ is the way to go. They are very close in nature. They are low level programming languages that will teach you the basics of programming. They are also powerful enough to solve almost any task. In other words if you know C or C++ you can pick up any other language very easy. Don't start with VB or Java or any object oriented programming languages. You have to crawl before you walk.
