Why do programmers use submodules in computer programming to solve problems?
Programmers use sub and functions because they allow the same code to be run but with different parameters, so the parameters may change but the code doesn't, this makes for less coding because you can reuse your subs and functions.

As below which is a very useless example but shows that I can write to the console anything I want by invoking the sub WriteSomething

Call WriteSomething("Hello World!")

public function WriteSomething(pText as string)

console.out.writeline (pText)

end function

What is the best computer program to use to monitor online activity?

I want to track the internet usage of those who use my home computer. What is the best undetectable program I can use to accomplish this, in your opinion, and why? I would like to be able to capture screen images and emails, and both sides of instant message conversations, but would settle for a simple keylogger if need be. The most important point is for the program to be undetectable!

What is the best computer program to use to monitor online activity?
"All In One Keylogger"

This, in my opinion is the best keylogger you will find.

It even got 5 cows from tucows.

They give 7 days of free full functionality trial.

After that you will need to purchase, but it doesn't cost much and it definitely worth it.

Do you have to know computer programming code to create a web site with Adobe GoLive?

you don't have to know programming to make a website, however to make a good website you must know at least HTML / CSS / Javascript. for client side.

maybe more languages for server side if you need to

Do you have to know computer programming code to create a web site with Adobe GoLive?
You don't have to need programming to create a web page , only some HTML tags are needed to create it (if someone have the concept of JAVAScript then it would be more better) . You may also create it using Frontpage or Dreamweaver . You will find it very much easy using them (the HTML tags will be written automatically).

The following sites will help you :
Reply:Well html isn't really "computer programming code" - its really just a set of opening and closing format tags. But no, you don't even need to know that much to make a website in GoLive.

But you will make much better web sites if you do know it. Any pro web developer will know html, because you often have to tweak the html or cascading style sheets to get a web page to work properly in all browsers.

What is the best computer program to keep database of clients?

I am a new real estate agent and looking for a computer program that I can keep all my clients records in. One that will remind me of important dats (their birthdays, anniversary etc.) And I have a mac. So a mac program that will do all this... if anyone knows that would be great! Thanks!

Also, how much do these programs cost?

What is the best computer program to keep database of clients?
Top Producer and Agent Office are good programs. I use ACT. It is by far more affordable and you can customize it to fit your needs. Just like the other 2 it can automatically send birthday, anniversary and holiday cards up to 3 years without you doing anything. You can set up mail merges that will customize every email with their info on it and send 1000 email in 1 minute all personalized. You can buy an older version as low a 3.0 for these capabilities for probably $10 on ebay. They have Mac versions also, my broker uses it on his Mac. Good luck out there
Reply:"Top Producer" is the most popular among real estate agents, but I do not know if it works on a Mac.

I have "AgentOffice," but it is only for Windows.

Sometimes Title Companies give away these programs (this is how I got my copy of "AgentOffice" for free.)
Reply:Congratulations on becoming a real estate agent.

You should ask your office since they might have a program they use and a website that they offer to their agents.

My office gives us a better rate since they buy a bulk for all the agents in the office whether we purchase or not.

What is a computer program i can use to help remodel my home and landscape?

I need a computer program to help me design my home. I would like to be able to take pictures of my home/landscape, and then manipulate it on the computer to show the home with shelves here, cupboards there, different colors of paint and carpet, etc.

What is a computer program i can use to help remodel my home and landscape?
Try www.designsoftware.com
Reply:I can't think of the name of them now, but I have seen a few on the market. Costco has a really good one. Sorry I can't remember the name.
Reply:I use one from Valusoft for room designs, decks, landscape and

garden designs. I got it a few years ago but it runs good .I'm sure

you don't want to invest in Autocad unless your doing drafting for a business.Contact them and see what you can get that fits your purpose.

What kind of website or computer program could I make as a 10th grade high school student?

I want something big that I can put on a college application, and what I am good as is computers. The only things I could think of colleges would like is some kind of computer program that is extremely impressive, or a website with a decent amount of traffic. I don't know what I could do for either though. For either one, I want it to show that it took a lot of time and thought, and I had to work hard at it. So I'm looking for some website ideas, or a program idea. Or just another idea altogether on the topic of computers. It just seems that any website or program that I could make is already made and very abundant, so I don't know what to do.

What kind of website or computer program could I make as a 10th grade high school student?
You should just go ahead and start the topic that you like without worrying about the abundant other sites out there.

To create a site, it need not be expensive.

Read this site to learn how you can host your website for free. http://www.wanginternet.com/free-web-hos...

If you need a domain name, simply head to Yahoo to get one for only USD 2.99 for the first year.

Once your site has got some good content, you can then make some money from it via Pay per click programs, affiliate marketing, etc. Head to http://www.wanginternet.com for more info on ways to monetize your site.
Reply:You could design a personal website. Most ISP accounts include space for this purpose. For example, as a BellSouth ISP customer, my account includes 10MB of personal web space. Once you have your website up and running, you could volunteer your services to set up websites for churches, etc. They provide the web space, you provide the design expertise.

Good luck with the project and your college admissions.
Reply:why don't you write a program to add two numbers and always get the same answer
Reply:Make the website, you don't need to publish it on the internet, you can just have it on your computer, and when it comes to an application just put it on a cd.

Or publish when you have the money.

What is the most difficult task in programming a computer?

debugging I would say is the hardest part. It's not to bad figuring out what you want to do and how to do it but finding that one error in many lines of code, thats hard.

What is the most difficult task in programming a computer?
Searching uncaught Exception is most difficult task in computer programming.
Reply:Although the replies mentioned above are true from a industry perspective the hardest thing to program in a computer is common sense.

All computers can do is crunch numbers. Information processing that happens in a 3yr old's brain is way surpassed than the fastest computer can think. Computers are not that good about parallel rule processing which are in the order of millions.
Reply:Two things...both connected...

When designing the user interface you have to try and get into the mind set of a user. That user could have no computer experience at all, or could be an IT manager. If you can figure out the way they want to use a screen before you send them the first draft it is the difference between happy paying customers and moany customers!

The second again is the users, and trying to second guess what they actually mean when asking for a requirement. They usually say one thing, but mean a completely different thing. Trying to disect and interpret what they mean is the key to being a good software developer.

At the end of the day 80% of programmers code fairly straightforward code. It's how you understand the problem and apply that straight forward code that is the hardest, and most important part.
Reply:Getting the computer to do what you want is easy. Making a bomb proof user interface is the tricky part.
Reply:Windows.
Reply:Foreseeing what a program's users would want it to do, and how they'd want it to do it.

The most annoying part is dealing with things that could go wrong; some things are so unusual that you can't help wondering if your program should be prepared to deal with it.

The two above tasks come together when you're considering how you think your program's users would like your program to deal with circumstances that are extremely unlikely to ever happen.

A thorough website to explain a bit of computer programming and basic computer/tech skills for the beginner?

Some sort of online manual for things like PowerPoint and Microsoft Word would be helpful; I would also like to learn the basics of programming. Is there an in-depth, informative (but easy-to-understand) website that would help?

A thorough website to explain a bit of computer programming and basic computer/tech skills for the beginner?
You don't know what your asking. If you can't figure out how to use powerpoint and word then you might have trouble learning programming.

Programming is like a set of instructions or routines for your computer to do.

Each programming language has its own syntax, but most are very similar.

C is pretty basic. You make a text file called helloworld.c

/* this is a comment */

#include %26lt;stdio.h%26gt;

/* stdio is a header file which contains the printf function which basically print to your terminal

*/

int main(int argc, char * argv[]){

/* the main function is an entry point */

printf("hello world");

}

Then you go get a compiler. gnu c compiler is a free one that you can use on windows.

gcc -o helloworld.exe helloworld.c

Now you got a program.

Go to take a class.

Can you please give me atleast 5 persons contributed in the development of computer programming?
Charles Babbage - invention of difference machine in 1822.

Herman Hollerith - in 1896 founded the Tabulating Machine Company (which became IBM). He invented the Hollerith punched card, the card reader, and the key punch machine.

John Von Neumann (1945)- developed two important concepts that directly affected the path of computer programming languages.

1. "shared-program technique". This technique stated that the actual computer hardware should be simple and not need to be hand-wired for each program. Instead, complex instructions should be used to control the simple hardware, allowing it to be reprogrammed much faster.

2. "conditional control transfer".This idea gave rise to the notion of subroutines, or small blocks of code that could be jumped to in any order, instead of a single set of chronologically ordered steps for the computer to take.

Grace Hopper- wrote the first compiler, A-0 in 1951A compiler is a program that turns the language's statements into 0's and 1's for the computer to understand. This lead to faster programming, as the programmer no longer had to do the work by hand.

John McCarthy of MIT- created the LISt Processing (or LISP) language. It was designed for Artificial Intelligence (AI) research in 1958.

Niklaus Wirth- began developing Pascal in 1968.

What is computer programming ?

Some software needs to be reliable.

Need some way of knowing that the software hasn't been doctored.

Otherwise, no matter how well it is authored and tested etc, someone could have come along subsequently and forged changes. According to Murphy, Machiavelli, Hamlet, Caesar, Deming, etc, if there's any possibility at all of this happening, it will happen, and has already happened. Why ? Because a computer system is a giant Monte Carlo system exploring all possibilities, not just the most likely possibilities.

What is computer programming ?
if you are over 11 years old, shame on you.
Reply:Software, for the most part, if its signed and certified, is reliable. Trust me, I am a programer and I know all of the steps hackers and modifiers have to go through to really poison a good program. If a program has been tampered with (via HexEditor or something along these lines) the certification will be corrupted and not valid. Plus, if you download from the host sites, not from any third-party site, you will find you never have currupt programs. Currupt programs are aquired through filesharing and shady third party sites.

Most programs that are currupt were made that way on purpose. It is really very very hard to edit an existing program in its exe form. And virtually impossible to edit a program that requires a setup file. The easiest path of curruption is to edit the INI files that some programs (mainly games) come with, but any idiot can look through and see something like "open FTP%26gt;xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:port# copy backdoor.trojan.b to "c:/windows/system~32" and open"

(I edited the scripting a bit because not everyone needs hacker know-how.)
Reply:computer programming is making programs for use by users with help of programming languages
Reply:Computer programming is the art of producing a set of instructions that the computer can process and execute. The result of this program is the generation of output from the given input.

A computer system is a series of programs linked together.

Remember.

There are no wrong answers in computing as long as the computer gives you the information you want. It does not matter how it goes about achieving this answer.

Does anyone know where i can learn computer game disign programming for free?
Well knowing all there is to know about game design from the net is very hard to do. Even some of the sites that people might suggest would only contain brief tutorials or code snippets. I can provide you with a group of links which may help you understand different parts of gaming and provide resources for you to lookup when you are stuck.

http://www.gamespp.com/ - This site provides several resources and tutorials in various languages. Plus they have some help documents and code snippets.

http://gpwiki.org/ - Here is a killer site for game programming. The game programming wiki. It has tons of links, resources, tutorials, help, and everything for game programming.

http://www.deitel.com/computergames/game... - The people of deitel books has a pretty good site with tons of links to tutorials and written in the infamous deitel style. If you like the books or not, you will probably like this site.

Hope these three links can provide you with some direction and help with your game programming.

Is electronics better or computer programming?

i cant know what to take in engineering?

what is better?

i like computer courses, math and circuits

i dont like physics

Is electronics better or computer programming?
I have a bachelors in Electronics and masters in comp. The reason i had to give you my background is because i had a similar (not the same dilemma as yours) dilemma.

Math is inevitable for you in both computer engg and electronics. So the ones that are left from your list are computers %26amp; circuits. My perspective is that, you can learn computer programming even while pursuing Electronics since computer programming has become a versatile field, where you can implement it in any other field. Moreover, when you are studying circuits, you will be dealing with Assembly language and object oriented programming anyways.

Ask yourself whether you like circuits a lot because electronics is not just circuits but you will be dealing with physics related subjects like electromagnetism, optics and so forth. You have to go to different college's or university's website and check out their syllabus. For example, if someone is interested in Astronomy, its not just about telescopes, there will be bind boggling math including advanced calculus in astronomy. Samething with any field. There will be few things you will be studying other than what you thought you would. Whatever it is, you must be the one to rationalize your thoughts and decide on the best choice. Dont choose a field because others told you to, but choose a field because you believe in it.
Reply:how much physics have you taken? A lot of people I talked to liked electric/magnetic physics more than the initial calculate the velocity of a watermelon shot out of a cannon ,blah, blah, assumption, assumption.

anyway, if I were you I would take classes that go toward both. Bottom line is, unless your in your late junior/senior year, no one expects you to stay in your chosen field (and even in junior/senior year people will still change).
Reply:you want money?, stick with programming. Do both,You can always major in 1, and minor in the other.....

Karl
Reply:computer programming skips the more detailed level of physics than is required for electrical engineers. computer programming is usually all "on-screen" work.
Reply:Well, if you don't like physics stay away from electrical engineering. The entirety of electromagnetic is physics based, semiconductor theory is physics based, but so was circuits (which you liked)....

What part of physics don't you like? The 'Jane the skater pushes a bucket of water at 4 C across a frictionless pond at 2.3 m/s, how much work was done by the penguin who watched' type stuff? Cause that stuff doesn't play much in EE (after you graduate), but the electric fields, em waves, and Gauss theory stuff does.

But short and sweet, it is easier to teach an electrical engineer how to program than it is to teach a programmer engineering.
Reply:It depends on what level of education you are talking about. If you are trying to decide what to choose as a major for a Bachelors degree program, you probably want to know whether you should choose Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science. If you don't like physics, avoid Engineering. Computer Science could be right for you if you like to create and work with software. There is not as much Math and little or no Physics in these programs, depending on the institution. If you don't want to pursue a four-year degree, you can get a two-year Associates Degree in Electronics, Computer or Engineering Technology and work in those fields with only a semester or two of basic Physics. Talk to (or ask Yahoo questions of) people who have these degrees and are working in these fields. What did they choose and why. What would they do differently and why. Good Luck!
Reply:If you don't like physics, stay away from electronics. In an EE degree you will get lots of it.

Programming is very transferrable to different fields, but is at risk of being commoditized and is easily off shored to other countries.

Some of the more interesting jobs in electronics are in RF circuit design, but competition is fierce and you must be very good.

As mentined FPGA design is basically programming with an understanding of circuits you are programming.

You should choose to study what you're interested in. It will be a lot less expensive in the end to study something you're interested in and will make stuyding more of a joy than a chore. I pushed through and finished my EE degree, but I never really enjoyed it much. It's tough to work in a field you don't really enjoy.
Reply:FPGA is a bit of both worlds, good answer!

If you go the Electronics route, beware of trade schoold like ITT Tech or DeVry as most of them do not offer transferable credits and they are not true "EE" degrees, only Electronics Engineering Technology", the Pic-n-Save equivalent to a true EE.

As a former student of ITT in the early 90's, I found the material to be grossly out of date (XT computers, degug and the resistor color code... ZERO mention of surface mount and other devices in mainstream electronics, not to mention the GUI based OS's like Windows and Mac that had been out there 5 years prior.

Either way, it will be fun... so ENJOY!
Reply:Why don't you do both? Embedded electronics with FPGAs is like programming with hardware.

Carpel tunnel syndrome from computer programming?

Hi, I have been programming quite a bit in the java language for the past two years, but now sometimes my fingers feel tired, and I sometimes have a pain in my right arm. Could it possibly be carpel tunnel syndrome. I say I type for about an hour and a half a day, and I am left-handed.

Thanks

Carpel tunnel syndrome from computer programming?
I handled workers compensation claims for years and handled too many CTS (carpel tunnel syndrome) claims to count. Basically, anyone, at any time could have CTS and not know it. You only become aware of the condition when you do a lot of repetitive motion. What happens is the tendons slide back and forth in the carpel tunnel and if the tendons become inflamed due to a lot of repetitive motion, it could cause pain. The pain in the right arm though, would not be CTS unless it is in the wrist area. If it is in the elbow area it could be cubital tunnel syndrome. From what you have indicated it may be CTS but really only a doctor would be able to diagnose.
Reply:A programmer should be sharp enough to run a search for symptoms of carpal tunnel. Click on the link below.

http://www.medicinenet.com/carpal_tunnel...

If after having read this, you still think you may be developing it, speak to your doctor about it.
Reply:A sharp shooting pain? If so then most likely. A lot of it has to do with genetics-- so if someone in your family has it, then you're likely to have it to (I think).

It's also caused by repetitive movements. So if you program everyday, and type. It's likely.

I want to do computer games programming in C++?

I would like to try doing computer game programming in C++ as its the most used laguage for this job but don't know where to start I have a 500 page long book on C++ programming but is there any websites on C++ Computer Games Programming that has a step by step guide to make just a sample little game?

Links please

I want to do computer games programming in C++?
I think you are better off getting through that book before going into games. Games are very DIFFICULT to write and you need to be a good C++ programmer before you can even attempt to write a game. Good OOP skills that cover Classes, Methods are esentail as well as a good understanding data structures such as Arrays and linked lists and pointer notation are a must when constructing games.

Hence why you need to understand how to code. If you have any questions you can email me at siu02rk@hotmail.com and I will see if I can help you with them.
Reply:Although not focused specifically on C++, gamedev.net is an awesome site for game programming info.

Also, gameinstitute.com...but you have to pay for courses....
Reply:Try the url below.

Really just Google c++ games programming.

Good luck
Reply:You really need to learn from making some regular C++ programs first, before you start. Binary application development is a hard path to follow - I'm not going to lie to you here - which many start down and few finish.

Have perseverance! Remember: It's very hard, but you're smart.
Reply:you wont want to start in c++ start with visual basic get acquired with all the language and how it works, maybe then move up to making simple games in flash and so on, top of the line games for any platform are made by teams of very talented people doing individual jobs like coding, mapping, textures, concept artists and so on.. good luck and stick with it if you really want it that bad.

Do you have to be smart to get into computer programming?

Right now i work at a daycare. I really want to go back to school and go as a micro programmer specialist. i didn't get the best grades in high school. I am trying to have as much self confidence as I can. but i dont want it to be too diffucult for me. I really want to do this but I'm worried and I dont want to have to waste my money.

Do you have to be smart to get into computer programming?
Don't worry about the maths side, a basic level will get you through most types of programming. As for grades and intelligence, your question is written with more intelligence then I see in some of the answers given here by some supposed professional programmers. If you find your chosen route presents problems, there are various alternatives you can take once you start training. As for self confidence, a little uncertainty when programming can make you far more careful with your code and therefore less likely to create errors (MS could do with a bit more care - see the Vista problems here). Choose the type of work you think you will enjoy, speak to a local college for advice and go for it.
Reply:As for the math aspect, you just have to at least know algebra at the moment, they will teach you the rest of the math at the college. You just have to be willing to learn and have a decent memory because you have to remember the commands.
Reply:Don't worry if you didn't get the best of grades, you can start out at your local community college, which will be easier to get into. You do have to be good with computers, be detail oriented, and be good at memorizing. If you're worried about wasting time and money, you can start out with one or two basic classes and see how it goes.
Reply:Just be enthu and be analytical.

Does not matters that you have studies math or science or english.

Just be Analytical. Think Logically and try tyo achive the Results.

When i started Electronics Comm Engg, I was from Arts Background and I really did well. Does not matter from which background you are. just learning attitude is enough.
Reply:No, just a proficient math skill, good memory, and a high I.Q., nothing smart.
Reply:The first thing you have to ask yourself is, how good are you at math?

Math plays a HUGE role in any computer science program. I'm talking trig, calculus, statistical analysis, and matrix theory. Now, this was part of the curriculum at my school and may not be the same where you are planning to go.

The bottom line is, talk to an advisor where you are planning on going and find out what the requirements are for the degree you are looking at. Look at ALL of the requirements down the line and make sure you are willing to put the time in to the classwork. Programming requires a bit of dedication.

Good luck!
Reply:I'm not sure what a micro programmer specialist. A google search indicates that this is just some light programming experience with knowledge in various aspects of computer technology like networking and databases. As this is no different from someone who has a solid level of knowledge in programming, I'll address your question as if you simple asked, I want to be a programmer.

%26gt;%26gt; i didn't get the best grades in high school.

Grades don't necessarily reflect your ability as a programmer. But all decent programmers I met were very good thinkers (and smart as well). That doesn't necessarily mean they were grade achievers. But they are very active in thinking and reasoning out things. Hence, they also are good at logic, and your ability to reason things out is tested the more you get into comp. sci (as opposed to just basic programming).

%26gt;%26gt; I am trying to have as much self confidence as I can. but i dont want it to be too diffucult for me.

You may want to try learning programming on your own. This isn't as hard as it sounds. If you find a good programmer support forum (Google search reveals http://forums.devshed.com , http://www.dreamincode.net , and http://www.daniweb.com ), you can ask them for help in your learning process.

By trying to learn on your own, you'll have an idea of whether programming is for you or not. If you do find yourself being able to adapt to the programmer's mentality, you can continue to pursue it with confidence.

%26gt;%26gt; I dont want to have to waste my money.

Which is why you should try learning on your own. Costs will be quite low that way. You'll get most things you need for free, and maybe spend $20-$80 for books initially. You can start with $0 costs, and spend a bit of money on books if you find yourself successful with programming. That means for no cost, you can determine whether or not programming is for you, and if you do continue, you can learn with limited expenses.
Reply:You don't have to be smart, but be prepared that you have to spend a lot of time in it. You can't learn programming in a few months as it involves a lot new concepts and new ways of think. Most these are very abstract it can take you a few years before you can become comfortable with it. So think twice is this really something you want to do for your career? If you like it, go for it.

I am a teen and I want to learn computer programming and microprocessor design what do I do?

Computer science won't teach you anything about microprocessor design. That would be more about computer *engineering*.

Programming wouldn't require nearly as much formal training. You can usually learn more about that by Googling whatever languages, tasks and environments you are interested in.

I am a teen and I want to learn computer programming and microprocessor design what do I do?
Contrary to what the other poster said, if you really want to learn computer programming, studying compsci at school may not be the best use of your time (though you probably want to go to university for other reasons). Unless you go somewhere very high-end like MIT you're better off teaching yourself.

I can't talk much for microprocessor design. To my knowledge, that kind of thing is harder to self-teach because of all the specialized equipment that you need to get started. I took several microprocessor design courses for my Software degree, and they were among the most worthwhile classes I took, definitely a better use of my time than those programming classes!

If you're really into processor design, go to school for that. In the meantime, download some scripting language runtimes and give yourself a head start. If you have control over your own computer, I'd recommend installing Linux on it (Ubuntu is a good choice http://www.ubuntu.com/), as it comes with many different languages installed and is in general a much more developer friendly platform than windows. Otherwise, just go download Ruby (download for windows: http://rubyinstaller.rubyforge.org/wiki/... , book: http://www.rubycentral.com/pickaxe/) or PHP and get started building stuff! I recommend those languages in particular because they are pretty easy to get started with, but you will definitely want to explore other languages, too.

Learn to use Google and Wikipedia to learn about different languages and different programming paradigms, and try to write meaningful/useful/fun programs for many platforms as you can. As you go, take note of all the things you do that cause you problems later on, and at some point go back and do those projects again. And when you have the confidence, implement your own programming language! Once you can do that, you will probably be more programming-wise than 90% of the people who come out of the university CS programs.

By learning about both programming and microprocessor design, you will end up with a much greater understanding of both fields than someone who learned about only one of those subjects, so I'm glad you're interested. Good luck!

PS: Don't forget to go outside and talk to girls once in a while. When you get started programming you can become very engrossed may forget to attend to other important things. ;)
Reply:Study computer science at university. Start learning programming using python and C++ from now. Read lots of math and physics.

it's used a lot in 3d games programming.

But also in a lot of applications with some algorythms..

How is math used in computer programming?
a lot it's like integral to computer programming....
Reply:to do binary math, such as

2^3=8

2^2=4

2^1=2

2^0=1

8|4|2|1

1|0|0|1

8|0|0|1

8+0+0+1=9

1001 binary is 9 in our denary/decimal system that we use.

See, every thing you put on a computer has something to do with math.

For a computer to do math it has to sovle it step by step for example:

8+8*2

8+16

24

see the steps, it even follows the order of operations,

and the computer can process millions of similar operation in secondes. You need to know this when you learn c++.
Reply:believe it or not you need it.
Reply:You could write a book and still not finish answering this question.

The turth is all computer programming is, is using language to describe the mathmatical calculations a computer needs to do to make the program function.

If i were going to focus on one area that math is used is the concept of a variable.
Reply:computers only understand numbers, in particular they only understand binary numbers. Therefore EVERYTHING that a computer does is translated into binary numbers. Text is translated into something called ASCII code. Spell checking is a big xss mathematical formula of doing compares. Music is done via digital conversion (i.e. math).

Programming languages may appear to use text, but the language is just a user friendly "front end" to machine code - which is all numbers. The "best" programs are written in assembly language - which is just the straight binary code.
Reply:It's how everything is done really. Remember a computer is nothing but a very complex calculator when you get right down to it.

For us web designers, it's how we do everything. Basic algebra is required for basic layout and if you start doing advanced things stuff like the Mandelbrot Set can create really interesting results.

Look at guys like Joshua Davis, a lot of his work is based around the idea of writing complex functions to generate layouts and just seeing what happens.

For anyone who uses flash basic to medium algebra is kinda required. However, 99.9% of what you do can be solved with basic algebra. Things like Trig and Calculus only come in when you do highly advanced work.

Who is considered the father of the Binary Code and the Stored Program Computer?

Who is considered the father of the Binary Code and the Stored Program Computer, which are the keys to modern computer programming? I think he was a hungarian.

Who is considered the father of the Binary Code and the Stored Program Computer?
I believe you are probably talking about the Hungarian mathematician John von Neuman.
Reply:Al Gore. Just ask him.
Reply:I think the name is Babbage, Charles (he invented the "first" mechanical computer, though at this time, there is some evidence that the greeks created one for navigating nearly 2000 years before...)
Reply:Absolt123 is right, it's Von Neuman; the store program computer idea entailed storing the program in the computer together with the data it has to process, which was different than they used to program a computer -by flipping switches- and definitely different from how Babbage COULD have done it.

And to put anyone straight who thinks Al Gore was exaggerating: what he SAID was that he *helped* invent the Internet, NOT that he invented it himself. That's a twist those lame-a s s republicans gave to it; a trick they pull time and time again, and it works. That's how we got an all-C student as president of the USA; one that unfortunately only very recently discovered the problem of global warming.

Since Al Gore was one of the very first politicians to see the potential of the Internet, and he worked hard to get further funding for its development, Mr Gore's entitled to say that he helped in the invention of the Internet.

Where to start ....Computer Programming?

Anyone has advice on what course to begin with to study computer programming? Am in the UK and there a lot of what look like dodgy institutions offering everything plus a job. Are these for real? I worry about the credibility of some of the courses offered.

Where to start ....Computer Programming?
Start with a teaching language such as C or Pascal, then move to an interpreted language such as Perl, Python or shell, then move to an object-oriented language such as C++, C# or Java.

From a computer prof.
Reply:Do you already have an undergraduate degree? Most good employers want people with a BS in Computer Science or something related for entry-level jobs in this field - at least, for the entry level jobs that will lead to something bigger. They'll hire out of the "vocational" schools for the more junior level tech help sorts of positions. So plan your education carefully, with your future goals in mind.

e.g. if you decide a programing with php

then search for "php tutorial" at yahoo/google
Reply:start off by learning from www.w3schools.com. This is an internet standard website for all programmers. Start by clicking on "Learn HTML" and start from there. HTML is the basics of programming and it is pretty cool to use once you learn it for the first time.

Once you master HTML, you can click on "Learn ASP" for dynamic programming.

You can also learn these as well.

Where can i learn the most common computer programming language?
There is a lot of resources out there for you to use. But first you have to determine what you mean by popular language. The most popular out there is Visual Basic, C++, C# and Java. Visual Basic is fairly simple so you can start from that. If you can afford some classroom, that will be just good too, and remember a place to find everything: YAHOO!Answers.

Don't forget to grab a copy of Begining Programming for Dummies, THAT will help too!

Is this a dirty secret in computer programming ?

"His day-to-day job involved fixing bugs within The Behemoth that were caused by other bug fixes designed to fix bugs from previous bug fixes, ad infinitum."

found by searching google for ** holy crap new bugs software **

Bruce Springsteen lyrics "you spend half your life covering up".

Is this a dirty secret in computer programming ?
It's not dirty and it's not a secret.

What you describe is how any complex system works and software programs are the most complex engineering feat humans have ever delivered.

Quality is achieved in an upwards conical spiral. It's the same with everything worth doing. No straight lines or silver bullets in the 'real world'.

///
Reply:Who said it was a secret? :-)

Seriously, most software eventually gets rewritten from scratch sooner or later. The more bugs it has, the more likely it is to be a candidate for a rewrite. There is a lot of software out there which has been chugging along for years with no problems.
Reply:no
Reply:I have only done 4th language programming (SQL) and it does not work like that. However, from the outside looking in at Microsoft (Behemoth double entendre) it looks 2 me like that is what goes on.
Reply:It isn't that easy...

Bugs in sftware are a relative thing. When one writes a behemoth application (which I have designed and led), there are a number of bugs that creep into the system. Initially, they are poor design or poor code writing. The secret to capturing each is to design the code in much smaller subssytems and have those writted and tested as independent groups, then bring the bigger pieces together as a system test.

In general, the systems are envisioned, designed, coded, unit (code)tested, system tested and put into "production". It is moe complicatd than this, but bugs are found and introduced until the system is started. That is the point when the system is "good enough".

If you want to see an example of bugs in a system, consider the space shuttle. It has sofware systems and hardware systems. The bugs in the hardware (o Rings, and missing tiles) are disasterous and were brought on by conditions that were not expected, or not reacted to when discovered. Yet the thing flew hundreds of times before failing.

Software is similar.

Thanks

What all programming languages and other computer languages are there to learn?
Programming language at wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Programming...

Alphabetical list of programming languages at wiki

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alphabetica...
Reply:I'd start with QBasic it is a good beginning one to learn then you can move to Visual Basic you can take QBasic Knowledge and apply it there. Then if you are Intrested in scripting you can learn VB script

Then learn C/C++ plenty of free C++ complier out there or you can spend the money and get C++ builder(great product, I use it and love it) C++ is more powerful but it can do more

Then after you have C++ down learn assembly, You can combined C++ and assembly and make realy great code
Reply:There are so many programming languages. However, I would like to give a brief introduction, as you told about your experience.

Ok, the language you mentioned is not really a programming language. It is a Markup Language. A markup language is, in which we tell, that from here to here the text is bold, from there to there is the body of the page. and So on.

A programming language on the other hand, makes things a lot more automated. For example, you have already learnt HTML. Try making a table of 2, now try making that of 3. You see it takes a lots of time, and requires you to compute every time manually.

To avoid that, lets use a scripting language called "JavaScript". To use it, see this HTML:

%26lt;HTML%26gt;

%26lt;BODY%26gt;

%26lt;SCRIPT Language=JavaScript%26gt;

n=prompt("Enter a number to get its table: ");

for (i=1;i%26lt;=10;i++)

{

document.writeln (n + " x " + i + " = " + (n*i) + "%26lt;BR%26gt;");

}

%26lt;/SCRIPT%26gt;

%26lt;/BODY%26gt;

%26lt;/HTML%26gt;

Because you know HTML, I think you would find it better if you start learning from www.w3schools.com

Hope to see a great programmer soon (believe me its not as hard as some people think).

You may learn in this sequence:

1. Scripting Languages for Web (VB Script and JavaScript)

2. Visual Basic

3. C

4. C++

5. Java

6. Assembly

Welcome to the world of Programming.
Reply:Java, C,C++, C#

Perl ,Python,Fortron,Smalltalk,Eifel,Algol,Vi... Basic,J#,FoxPro
Reply:There must be thousands. Check out the link that someone posted to wikipedia.

By the way, HTML is not a programming language. It is a markup language. It does not contain fundamental constructs of a programming language, like selection and iteration.
Reply:There are many many difficult programming languages but they can be classified into diffierent categories..ie web application shell programming graphics etc.....

I don't really consider HTML as a programming language....

For web programming, u can try PHP as it is open source or even JSP as these two are quite popular or even ASP...

Application wise, you can try C++ or java. These two are also rather popular.

Once u get the hang of programming, learning new languages will not be a problem. Its basically learning the syntax of each language. You can try the following website.

I know how to program in a variety of computer languages. Is there any money in computer programming?

I know several people who are programmers. They seem to do well at it,however they move jobs fairly often. They work for places that down size or farm the work out. I only know one person who has been employed for the same place for any length of time.

I know how to program in a variety of computer languages. Is there any money in computer programming?
Sure, theres lots if you can get a job doing it.

As far as jobs, that really depends on your area and level of skill.

I was a programmer for 10 years, and went to work straight out of high school. I was making six figures before I had finished my college degree.

Later on, when I decided to become a lawyer, people looked at me strangely and said--"But, you'll have to take a pay cut." Which was true, at least at first.

Computer programmers are problem solvers and the ability to think logically exercised on the job has been helpful solving many non-technical problems too.

Everyone who works with computers should learn at least the basics of programming--instead of having an advanced, futuristic typewrite on your desk, you will know how to make your computer your beech, and that makes you truly valuable to any employer.

Do you have free magazine which have step by step instructions on basic computer programming?

I would highly suggest http://www.w3schools.com/ they have step by step lessons on all internet related programming.

Take a look at the Java Script section.... it has all the basically fundamentals of a programming language.

http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_intro.asp

The good thing is you can easily play around without needing any additional software.

The bad thing with Java Script is if you don't do it correctly it will be hard to track down the problem.

Either way... reading over that section will give you a basic overview of a programming language.

Enjoy!

Okay, could someone tell me about computer programming?

So if i wanted to get into a career in computer programming, what would the curriculum be in college and how long would it take. What exactly do they do and how much do they get a paid a year? Any additional information would be appreciated. Thanx in advance! :)

Okay, could someone tell me about computer programming?
I would have to disagree with the above considering c++ is written in c, so it obviously isn't the 'mother'. But I do agree that if you learn a basic object-oriented language such as c++, java, c#, etc you will be able pick up most languages rather quickly.

You don't necessarily need a 4 year degree to program, my brother got his associates in 2 and has quite a nice job with an airline.

In fact, I do not know of a 4 year program that offers a 'computer programming' degree. If you want to learn more in depth about programming, I would recommend a 4 year computer science degree (thats what I have:)). You will likely slightly larger starting pay (right around $40-50k from what I have seen). Once you have some experience, it is not uncommon to be making 80-90k, over 100k if you get into management, coordination and engineering - experience is key.

With that said, you will likely want to be quite strong in math and logic as that is a lot of what programming is. Chances are that you will be required at least a couple semesters of calculus and the class leading up to it.

The key is to NEVER stop learning, and NEVER get caught up and stubborn on your 'favorite' language - it might be a ghost language in a year (we have already changed once this year).

Good luck, it is an exciting field!
Reply:Hi,

Let's go step by step. A program is a set of instructions with a logical order made to fit a purpose. Computer programming is to communicate with the computer in a way it can understand the instructions you are giving it.

As a programmer you're given a solution to a problem that will go through a series of steps before you can see it as a computer program. First you have to decide what programming language would you use (Most popular and frequently used are C, C++, Java and Visual Basic) and why would it be good to use it for the given solution.

Then the program construction begins. This starts with writing the source code, which is basically a conversation you have with the computer on what do you want it to do. Then the compilation begins (compilation is a process where the computer translates those instructions written in your source code to a language that computer could understand). Finally execution. This is to tell the computer do what I told you on the source code as you know now.

In a practical way imagine it like this, you are in a room full of computers and related equipment. The study that involves all the computers inside the room would be covered in Information Systems which is more like an administrative point of view. The specifics of a particular computer (computer interals) as how does it work inside very in detail are covered on a Computer Science degree.

Beta Tester: These people are always running computer programs and stuff

looking for pitfalls on them and it is creative because you have

to make a test plan and make your suggestions if you find any

errors going on

Documentalist: These people do user manuals. In the computer field

would be manuals on how to use programs, equipment,

etc, and believe me, you have to be creative so everybody

can understand how things work as reception for

technology varies from user to user.

Graphics Designer: Makes 3D effects, animations, and these type of things.

Webmaster: Makes up company websites and related tasks. It is all about

that. Have to deal a lot with presentations about navigation, user

interaction but will also be responsible of thinking about its

security since you do not want unauthorized access of any sort.

Hope that helps you out.
Reply:I think that the above answers, taken together, paint a very good picture. As for your prev question about not liking math, you'll have to avoid a 4 yr "cptr science" degree and get a 2 yr "data processing" or "cptr programming" degree. Or check out Devry.

If you want to know about Web programming, just click on the View menu of your browser and click Source. After you finish gasping, realize that no one hand wrote that code to display this page. It was written by an HTML generator. The Web developer wrote the code that takes database records and his program wrote the program that creates this Web page.

Programming is very fun to me. If you are creative, Web design is the way to go. Go to a local bookstore and by the book, "Teach yourself HTML in 21 days". HTML, Java, Web Design. Pick your title. You'll either use Internet Explorer exclusively or the book will come with a CD of _everything_ you need to complete the whole book. Absolutely no math required, except counting columns. :-) Those entertaining lessons are like addictive adrenalin to newbie programmers.

You can get work w/o a degree, but you won't get big fat raises as fast as someone with a degree. Entry level w/o degrees can get $32k/yr and up. As an employee, Midwest jobs range from $31k to $87k. As a contractor, you can get six figures (before taxes) easily. The silicon valley lady from your prev question can't get work because a zillion programmers flocked there, then businesses folded and many of the programmers stayed.

I think you'll enjoy it and the self help books are the fastest (21 days or less) way to determine if you really like the work.
Reply:learn c++ programing ,it's mother of programing in the world.

Usually it takes a good four-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent to be considered for professional programming jobs. Curriculum depends on both the college you go to and what area you would like to focus on. Pay for these jobs range wildly depending on experience and responsibilities.

I'd start by seeing what area of Computer Programming you might be interested in, then finding some jobs related to that area (check an online job site). This should help you get a better grasp on page range and college requirements.

How would I create a computer program for people searching?

I was wondering how I could go about programming a website or computer program that would "grab", so to speak, information from many websites and compile it into a profile. For example, you'd type in somebody's name and it would return their ZabaSearch listing, and then search the info from that on Zillow to find stuff about their house, take that and search for floorplans, etc?

How would I create a computer program for people searching?
you got to apply your search algorithm at

Whois database.

WHOIS is a TCP-based query/response protocol which is widely used for querying a database in order to determine the owner of a domain name, an IP address, or an autonomous system number on the Internet. WHOIS lookups were traditionally made using a command line interface, but a number of simplified web-based tools now exist for looking up domain ownership details from different databases. Web-based WHOIS clients still rely on the WHOIS protocol to connect to a WHOIS server and do lookups, and command-line WHOIS clients are still quite widely used by system administrators.

hope this helps

Cheers:)

help, i have just started to look for jobs for when i finsh uni in a months time, and every job seems to have programming involed in it, any one got any ideas what to do but no where near programming!!! i hate it and cant do it for love nor money.

i will have a bsc in computer studies

Computer jobs but notting to do with programming?
It's good to understand the concepts of programming.

That's usually a common starting point for many of us.

But there are also many analysis %26amp; design positions.

Then there is database or network administration.

My career led me to software testing %26amp; Quality Assurance.

There are also Project Management positions.

But basicly, programming skills are the entry path.

How often you need an immediate service or help from someone, like programming, computer, paper writing, etc.?

The service or help could be anything from garden and housework, to your school work and assignments. I like to know what is it that you often need, and where do you go to satisfy that need? Are you willing to pay small fees (like %26lt;$2) to find a proper person to help you with your need?

How often you need an immediate service or help from someone, like programming, computer, paper writing, etc.?
I need such services rarely if ever. However, if I needed such services paying under $2.00 I would think would be too much of a bargain.

Good Luck!!!

Web design, Graphics, Computer Programming Schools in Canada....Help Please?

I am interested in Web design, Graphics, Computer Programming anything to deal with computers - i want to go to canada bcuz i jus want to get out of my home town an start over begin something new...I plan to be out of here by next sept. Does any one know any good schools i can check out that does any programs like that? I LOVE COMPUTERS! they fasinate me...ANY good colleges?? plz any at all that does any of them would b helpful...thanks loads =]

Web design, Graphics, Computer Programming Schools in Canada....Help Please?
Canada is a great place to go to school, but please make sure you think everything out carefully before you leap so that you don't jump from the frying pan and into the fire from a personal perspective. There's lots to consider outside the 'excellence' in education and 'affordability' that Canadian schools offer. If you're from the United States, I would suggest you visit the "U.S. Student to Canada" website to begin your search and to understand the steps you need to take. The website offers various options to search by program and province, links to connect with student ambassadors from the U.S. currently going to school in Canada, information about the process to obtain a Canadian study permit, information on how to secure U.S. federal loans to study in Canada, college planning tips and even a suggested packing list. If you have additional questions, you can complete their feedback form and they're get back to you fairly quickly. Good luck.... ;-)

What is computer programming?

i taking computer science but i dont know which major will i choose if major in computer programming or major in multimedia and interner... I dont have any idea about computer programming. I mean what is the use of it??? please help me

What is computer programming?
You use different programming languages like java, visual basic, c/c++ and your write code that makes a program. If you get good at it, you can write custom programs that do just about anything.
Reply:It's when you program a computer oh and I would tell you how but, it's too difficult.

How do i become a programming and or computer wizard? Where do i start?

its important to keep your basics right.. u must have an interest towards programming(thats primary).. u should always keep experimenting and improving your code.. add as many features to ur program as u can think of..

make it a habbit from the very begining to present ur code in the best possible way(use comments, proper indentation etc).. and put extraa stress on the output.. try n make ur program very user friendly..

this was the answer to how to start!!

i actually started with c++ through oline tutorials .

%26amp; i'm telling u .. it was really addictive in the begining..

later on we had to study c++ in the college as well.. so i was already ahead of every1 in my class.. coz things looked so obvious to me.

1 thing that every1 is advised to do--m never learn programming.. do it yourself.. and u'll certainly perform better. things strt looking obvious after some time.

and then to be a computer wizard .. u hv. to work hard.. extremely hard!

How do i become a programming and or computer wizard? Where do i start?
I found learning HTML was one of the first things I learned. It's easy. It's not programming, but it gets you used to entering codes and values.

Next step up is probably Python. It's easy to use and has lots of tutorials and documents for the begining user.
Reply:you can start by exploring and learning your computer more, like taking out spywares, editing stuffs, customizing, erasing stuffs, etc.

note: you have just to be careful if you're afraid to take risks, sometimes it takes a 'trial %26amp; error' to become one.
Reply:Taking a basic computer programming class is the best way to start, that way you find out what interests you and where your strengthens and weakenesses lie, and after that it will open a world of options, a community college class might be the best answer that way you can have the ability of choice as to where to go after you have gotten a feel for the field. :)
Reply:Most hackers/sys admins that i know learned the same way i did. Start by taking an old computer apart and see whats in it, then take a few classes depending on what you want to do. a good class to start with is A+ certification... it starts with the history of computers and goes from the very basics(i.e. What are input devices?) how to more advanced hardware and operating system topics.
Reply:It depends on what kind of programming you would want to do. if you want to do based on web designing you could probably try learning html, java script or php.

if you want to do programming to make softwares it would be advisable to do java or C++.

if you want to do based on DBMS you could try learning SQL or ORACLE.

An easy way of learning any of these is to get ebooks or guides that are available on the net.

How do i find out what computer programming language a windows application is written in?

you need some experience to recognize it,

- Java : from the 'select file dialog box' (it's different with another programming language) and sometimes its extension. (i've never open it with dissasembler)

- VB : big size files and can't work without msvbm60.dll etc.

open with dissasembler : to much jump.

- Delphi : Open the Executable File with some 'Resource editor', you will recognized by its Resource , usually for the icon resource, it have an unique icon likes 'door', 'floppy', 'exit', 'close'.

open with dissasembler : sometimes you see .onClose, .onExit, .onClick procedure. and sometimes their 'Jump' to some specific code before it 'jump' to the right procedure/function

- C++ : open with dissasembler : very clean asm code. 'Jump' exactly to the 'procedure/function'

- ASM : I doubt it's existance in windows

- Net : i never see a software build by .net in my PC (didn't have chance to test it)

maybe there's different method to recognized it by their binary or executable header. try to find it in internet.

How do i find out what computer programming language a windows application is written in?
more than one programming laguage is involved.
Reply:I dont think there is a way to find the application is developed in which computer programming language.
Reply:Most windows applicationa are written using C languages
Reply:Any application in any OS or platform irrespective of any language used ultimately becomes a "machine code", as translated by compilers of the programming language for that platform.

So its impossible to differentiate between two programmes looking at their "machine code" as to which coding language was used for programming them.
Reply:This could be tricky depending on the nature of the program.

Think about what libraries would have been used to produce this program if possible. See what languages these are available in.

It is possible for an experienced programmer to make an educated guess as to such things.

You could test whether you are correct by running the application through a decompiler. If it is possible to decompile with a particular language decompiler then you have probably selected the correct language.

However, the most practical method is to look for hints within the application. If you are not an experienced developer, browse around the programming section of a good bookstore and try to match up features/GUI toolkits with different languages/libraries available.
Reply:You can make some educated guesses based on what is actually being run. .Net stuff is all more or less the same once it goes to MSIL, but you'll be able to tell if it's a .Net assembly, and even things about it by putting it through Ildasm or Reflector.

If it's a native app, you should look to see the libraries it loads. MFC is a fairly good indicator of C++, but if it isn't loaded the app could just be doing things by using win32 calls (which, IMO, are just as good) from any of the supported languages. The thing about native apps, in the end they're just compiled straight down. You may not be able to identify the original language without some work.

Not a lot of experience with (non .Net) VB, but I'd guess you can also tell by inspection of the binary and what gets loaded.

You can normally tell a Java program fairly easily, and there are a number of decompilers out there (or you can convert the bytecode to JASM for easier reading at the low levels). If it decompiles to java, it's a fair bet.

Good luck.

EDIT:

To the above answers, some languages are interpretted, some languages are not, so while ultimately machine code goes through the processor, you may still be able to tell from what's stored, what's loaded, and what's running. If you run it, and the java virtual machine starts up, machine code still goes through but it's a pretty fair bet it's a Java app. For those that are not, remember that while any given opcode does the same thing for the same arguments and conditions, different languages and different compilers will structure the compiled result differently... even given just blobs of binary, it's sometimes possible to tell if you're really willing to go in deep.

But, honestly, is finding out the authoring language all that useful?
Reply:Dont let anybody decieve you, its impossible to determine except if the developers leave some traces.. like for example if the ICON of a Visual basic program is left unchanged by the programmer......... beside that you are unlucky Its funny that people claim that Java alone is used for Network applications but to the contrary i use visual C++ and Vbasic.

What is the best computer programming language to learn and use?why?

The "best" computer programming language to learn and use depends upon your mentality—and what you want to do with the language.

For instance, the C language requires a lot of detailed and complex programming. Whereas, a higher-level language like Visual Basic hides a lot of the complexities. If you want to have as much access to the OS as possible, develop games, extremely fast and responsive programs then, perhaps C or C++ may be appropriate for you.

If you are want to learn web-based programming then, you may lean towards Java or ASP.NET. If you need to do rapid prototyping then, maybe Visual Basic may be appropriate for you. VB is great for database applications as well.Visual Basic happens to be the most widely used visual programming language in the world.

Available jobs are a pretty good indicator of the number of development projects for a given language. Java pretty much dominates in this area, with C# coming in a distant second, and ASP.NET and PHP not too far behind.

Below, I compare and contrast several of the more popular languages:

Java was designed to be safer and cleaner than C++. Java was designed to be portable and to replace C++. Java is a multi-platform language that is especially useful in networking. The two most attractive aspects of Java are that it can be a safe language (all errors are caught by the compiler or bytecode checker or cause runtime exceptions), and its portability (especially its wide range of standard libraries). Java is a multi-platform language that is especially useful in networking.

Of course, the most famous usage of Java is on the web, with Java applets, but Java is also used to build cross-platform programs that stand alone. Since it resembles C++ in syntax and structure, learning Java is usually quite easy for most C++ programmers. Java offers the advantages provided by object-oriented programming, such as reusability; on the other hand, it can be difficult to write highly efficient code in Java, and Swing, its primary user interface, is notoriously slow. Nevertheless, Java has increased in speed in recent years, and recent versions offers some new features for making programming easier.

--------------------------------------...

C is a popular language, especially in game programming, because it doesn't have the extra packaging of the object-oriented C++. Programmers use C because it makes programs slightly faster and smaller than programs written in C++. You might wonder, however, whether it's worth giving up the reuseability of C++ to get the small increase in performance with C, especially when C++ can, where necessary, be written in a C programming style.

C++ is the most widely used object-oriented language. C++ is C plus objects, an extended library, templates. I quite like the standard template library (STL) of C++. The C language is great for systems programming—as C—but allows larger project, or applications. It allows higher-order programming to a certain extent and comes with about 10 generic data structures and 70 simple algorithms over them. Other STL-like libraries include: the Graph Template Library (GTL).

C++ is well-suited for large projects because it has an object-oriented structure. People can collaborate on one program by breaking it up into parts and having a small group or even one individual work on each part. The object-oriented structure also allows code to be reused a lot, which can cut down development time. C++ is also a fairly efficient language—although, many C programmers will disagree.

--------------------------------------...

ASP.NET, C#, and VB.NET are all the same platform! You can do practically the same things with VB.NET and C#-every program that can be written in one language can be written in the other, producing exactly the same binary. ASP.NET is just the web toolkit, like JSP in Java.

The C# language is an object-oriented language that is aimed at enabling programmers to quickly build a wide range of applications for the Microsoft .NET platform. The goal of C# and the .NET platform is to shorten development time by freeing the developer from worrying about several low level plumbing issues such as memory management, type safety issues, building low level libraries, array boundschecking , etc. thus allowing developers to actually spend their time and energy working on their application and business logic instead. To a Java developer, the previous sentence could be described as "a short description of the Java language and platform"—if the words C# and the .NET platform were replaced with words Java and the Java platform.

What is the best computer programming language to learn and use?why?
java
Reply:It depends on your requrment.

For system level program I suggest C.

For web programming - .Net

Reply:If you've never ever programmed before, start in BASIC (though most people will probably disagree with me because BASIC isn't used very much anymore - but it's good for learning fundamentals and stuff like that). For more advanced stuff, you can't really go wrong with Java or any form of C. (C, C++, C#). There is a striking similarity between Java and C# in terms of syntax and the way keywords are used, so if you learn one, you should pick up on the other one fairly easily.
Reply:c and c++ r the king of programmin languages...........even softwares r built usin dese
Reply:depends on what you want to do as a programmer.

to program powerful and mathematically oriented applications that require very complex but efficient algorithms then you have to learn C++, its the language that is used to program most of the operating systems around, because it has the ability of C to interact with the hardware at a low level, and also the ability to be used as an object oriented language.

for small applications that will run on mobile devices like phones, ATM's and palmtops, then try Java, its byte codes are very efficient in terms of speed and size or mobile devices and small memory devices. like washing machines, microware ovens. and the like. it is also very good for web programming and designing of applets (applications that run on the internet),

for game applications you will have to learn the game programming resources, like Maya, Direct X, C#, and the like, these are mainly for gaming applications and have resources available for the design of the interactive parts of the game. including the gaming objects.

for database applications over networks and on stand alone pc's try VB.net and its related languages of the dot. net runtime envronment.

these are languages developed by microsoft for maily stand alone applicaitons and sever application. they are sometimes also good for programming gaming applications.

so as you can see it depends on what you want to do as a programmer.

i personally have learnt Pascal, C++, Java and VB.net. so i program in all these languages. though i have long since stopped using turbo pascal. but currently i program in C++ Java and VB.net
Reply:There are as many 'best' programming languages as there are programmers. Different languages are suited to solve different problems the same way different tools are used for different jobs. No decent programmer knows only one language and if you want a carreer in programming you should be prepared to learn several.

Good choices include any of the C family and Java. They are powerful languages and have a healthy job market but can be difficult to learn for a novice. If you've never done any programming before then VB or Pascal (Delphi or FreePascal) are a good place to start.

Other popular languages at the moment include PHP, Python, Ruby and JavaScript. These are very useful for web programming and scripting.
Reply:hmm, i wouldn't say theres a *best* programming language ever, every language has its own use, its own Positives and negatives, each one we can use for a specific need ...

but, for example, using pascal or delphi now isn't very modern, its not gonna be that useful ... if you want to learn a programming language i would say to read more about C#,C++,JAVA .. and choose what do you like :)

my opinion

good luck :P
