Where is the best place to start to learn computer programming?

First what kind of programming are you trying to do? Most programming languages lend them selves to certain types of programs. Here's a list.





0. For learning programming, languages like or Basic or Pascal are good starting points. Java is also a good albeit more difficult language to start with.





1. For computer Games and Graphics or Linux learn C/C++ hardest to learn and master, but most flexible and universal. Most of the worlds professional software is written in C/C++





2. For Internet web pages, learn PHP or ASP.NET , allows you to save information from users, and work with databases. and create dynamic web sites.





3. For Internet Animation learn Flash , it's programming language is Actionscirpt , fun to learn if you like animation





4. For Windows only programming or working with Access database Learn Visual Basic , probably the easiest language to learn





5. For dealing with Text manipulation and Linux operating system try Perl








There are dozens of programming languages, most are best suited to a particular type of software (As above) figure out what you want to specialize in then learn that language. Most Languages have many common constructs so once you learn one, the others will seem familiar. Rate me!
