Where to start ....Computer Programming?

Anyone has advice on what course to begin with to study computer programming? Am in the UK and there a lot of what look like dodgy institutions offering everything plus a job. Are these for real? I worry about the credibility of some of the courses offered.

Where to start ....Computer Programming?
Start with a teaching language such as C or Pascal, then move to an interpreted language such as Perl, Python or shell, then move to an object-oriented language such as C++, C# or Java.

Reply:Do you already have an undergraduate degree? Most good employers want people with a BS in Computer Science or something related for entry-level jobs in this field - at least, for the entry level jobs that will lead to something bigger. They'll hire out of the "vocational" schools for the more junior level tech help sorts of positions. So plan your education carefully, with your future goals in mind.
Reply:C+ C++ C# Java
