What is computer programming?
If you haven't done any programming before it may be good to take a general introductory class, to learn about game programming:

Reply:Computer Programming is writing code with different parts of a form and turning it into an application.

A good example of a program, for basic, is the Microsoft Windows Calculator.

It is made up of multiple controls, labels, and code which are able to create the functions and build up what you use the calculator for. There are different types of code:

C+, Java, Visual Basic, etc.

I would recommend going with VB if you are new to coding, as it seems to me you are.

The best place to learn computer programming is free video tutorials off of Google Video or Youtube. :)

Computer Programming is NOT mainly for games. Games itself are completely different - they require 3-D Modelling, and the writing of Scripts and other notorious feats. Sure, Games do require programming, but just programming something won't make a game work altogether.
Reply:Computer programming is basically a bunch of codes that makes your XP or Vista system work. Not only that but the codes that makes MySpace and Friendster come together. Also codes for Internet Explorer and computer games including the ones on the internet and in stores. It is a fun major but requires a LOT of attention and focus.
Reply:Your question is very broad to the point that you could be programming anything to software, to hardware, to Operating Systems. For gaming though a lot of software is used, such as 3-D modeling, audio, and C++, VB and other various game engine based scripts.
