What is the most essential or useful computer programs for graphics and/or desktop publishing?

If you could recommend ONE program to learn to get a job in the computer graphics field (eg: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign,Dreamweaver, etc.) which would it be?

What is the most essential or useful computer programs for graphics and/or desktop publishing?
On this question, you'll probably get as many different answers as there are programs out there. However, adobe photo is still far ahead of all except for one.

As you probably already know... photoshop can run you as low as $200, and as high as $600 or more... but, there is one that I found that does everything, and much more than photoshop, and that is laughingbird.

You'll be amazed at what their prpgram can do and all the features for less than 40 bucks. So check it out and let me know what you think. It's the only one I personally use now.
Reply:photoshop is one of the most powerful image editing programs in existence right now. there is an alternative to it however if you wish to not spend $600 on a license other than torrents to download. its name is GIMP. it does just about as much as photoshop does and may even rival it. the best part, its free!
Reply:Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.

You can always HTML in notepad.
Reply:One program wouldn't do it.

You'll need at the very least PhotoShop and InDesign (or QuarkXPress).

Most employers want Illustrator and/or Flash as well.
