What would the ideal set up be to edit video from the Canon HV20, what computer/ programs would you use?

I just got a Canon HV20 camera from Christmas and was going to upgrade my computer anyway. So now I want to start looking to build a base editing bay. What type of computer and specs would you look for and what program easily pulls in the video from the HV20, in 24p mode specifically?

2.0 Core2Duo T7200 processor or better. Nvidia fx 1500 or better. 2 or more GB of 667 DDR2 RAM. 800FSB. 500GB or more of HDD space, SATA 7200rpm or higher, preferrably SATA2. Premiere, Vegas or Avid if you can afford it. If you know the specific software editor you're going to use, see if the manufacturer site has certified any particular PCs.

Make sure too that your program will work with Vista. I personally use Avid Media Composer and purchased the Compaq NW9440 with XPpro2 because it was certified for HD editing with Avid. Haven't had any problems with getting footage into editor. I know that Media Composer is a bit pricy, so might want to check out Xpress pro. Never used others.

The HV20 will not output 24p. This does not, however, change the appearance that 24p has on the video. So, if it's about maintaining the film "look" that has you concerned to edit 24p natively, you can rest assured that it doesn't change whether you're editing in 24p or 60i.
