I want to start learning computer Programming. how should i pick out a computer?

I want something that i can run XP and maybe Vista at the same time. i think im supposed to have linux two so they would all have to be able to "triple boot" if that is possible.

What specs am i looking for?

Actually, you don't really need all the extra operating systems.

Even if you do want to, triple booting is possible with usage with virtual machines.

Anyways, you should consider what type of programming languages you should use. Lower-level languages tend to be more difficult to learn, but more powerful and flexible.

If you want to start programming with easy syntax, I suggest you take BASIC or Visual Basic. the syntax is generally like English words.

But if you want to start off with a much higher-leveled challenge, you can try C or C++, or Python.

BASIC and Visual Basic usually have compilers built-in.

C or C++ requires you to install an outside compiler.

Some compilers names are MinGW and Borland.

But, if you want to use a built-in compiler, I sugest you try the Dev-C++ development environment.

Dev-C++ can work with either C or C++.

But for computer specifications, let's get started.

For my recommendations,

you should get a computer with a minimum processor clock speed of 1GHz(~1000MHz)

As for RAM,

try getting 128MB or more.
Reply:The actual computer does not matter in programming, although Linux is clearly the best choice. If you still have Windows, keep it, because some programming programs are very good, but only compatible in windows, but try to use Linux more.
Reply:Don't worry about the computer for now. You don't know what direction you're going in, and what languages you'll be using. Just use whatever you have at the moment, and try to learn some language. You'll be able to make choices once you have some experience.
